Well worth having

This slender volume attempts to present, as the preface says, a detailed review of the most important numerical analysis techniques for calculating modes and beam propagation in optical waveguides and fibers. If that's what you're after and you're not already expert in this area, it's well worth buying. The authors are both long-time practioners of these arcane arts in major Japanese firms, and it shows. On the other hand, it was originally written in Japanese and the authors are industrial researchers, not teachers; and to some extent that shows also. But I'm glad to have it, haven't encountered anything better in this area, and have no hesitation in recommending it.

This is an excellent and well written book. Very exciting to read. I wished, I knew beforehand, that the worship CD is NOT included in this book as I thought it would, because it mentioned the cd in the product description. I guess, that you have to order this cd separate from Jill Shannon's Webside "coffeetalkswithmessiah.com". Anyway I don't regret this purchase and recommend it.

Could be the most comprehensive & monumental Cayce book ever; incl. Jesus & earth's Creation

Its really a story of humnaity's creation & creation of the world as much as it is a tale of Cayce's incarnations. This was the book my grandmother always said was her favorite that i should read, but was a bit convoluted for a 13 year old. But now it strikes you as those wow moments, which were many. In fact the 1st several chapters cover more of Christ's incarnations than they do of Cayce's. It is all intertwined. While a good writer, he just sort of picks a chapter title & fills it with all kinds of great stuff.
I was surprised this was as good if not better than the story of Jesus by whats his face & the other book by Sanderfur, which considered two best classics on cayce's work, not Cayce himself. but having read another church's or church-hill's books, story of the soul, & it wa so good, i saw what else he wrote. This was even better than that.
Possibly, like granma said, the best comprehensive cayce book ever. Ansers not only the lost years of jesus explained, welll, brushed over actually, but the only book i ever read that told in details and comprhensively about the Persian experiences of both Cayce & Jesus-- very hard-to-find matrial., Also, it does a better job at explaining the creating of the world & us, & the purpose for the world. The last 2 chapters were big time wow, telling us how to find Jesus returning as a man ibn the same body & Cayce's next 2 approaching incarnations.
When he says Jesus would return in the same body, with the wounds still, even before Cayce, who bunny hopped throughout millenia alongside Cayce, it was humbling. Like 36 lives or something. Of course Cayce was not revealed this until the end of his life "so it would not go to his head." Apparentlly, Cayce will come again twice & maybe Jesus once more or twice--i'm still trying to figure this out, or actually re-read it. It was very "Wow."
Another recent highly good book i must reccommend another author, more detailed in rehashing the readings on religion & angels, by a minister (Va.Beach)--cant recall name-- was "The Angels Are Talking- Are We Listening." That ministerial author explains very well the concepts of Karma along side the grace of divine forgiveness & what people or beings on other worlds think of Jesus, how they relate. It was a real eye-opener too, right from the purest sourcem, Cayce-- who always said to look within, since God is in each of us. He was never a medium in the normal sense. His readings were directly from the Akashic records, usually, sometimes or often directed by archangel michael, etc.
This CHurchill's book here, Many Happy Returns: the lives of edgar cayce." it is quite possibly the best book ever written (pardon the typos)-- monumental in its revelations. She said it was the most important book she ever read & it could be-- it just might be.
Will DEFINITELY buy multiple copies.

Intimate to say the least

Petrarch's Secret book is so intimate that it makes you want to blush. As a conversation between the author and Saint Augustine relating to religion, humanity and art, it is an immense success. Just as Dante had Virgil, Petrarch had Saint Augustine and this is a good thing. Petrarch's insight into his own weaknesses and those of society are enlightening. In addition, the book is short and fast- easy reading to delve into the human soul.

Petrarch the philosopher

Petrarch is considered one of the first modern poets with his use of Italian to write his hundreds of poems to his life-long (albeit unrequited) love, Laura, which are now known as the "Canzoniere" (short-songs).
But this book is actually an interesting and short peek into the mind of the man and his approach to dealing with the questions and demons that many clerics had in living a life dedicated to the church, but also having dealing with issues of the flesh.
The book is a series of apocryphal conversations between Petrarch and St. Augusine which most certainly went on in Petrarchs head for most of his life, before and after he wrote his "secret book" which was not published in his time.
The "conversations" are really some interesting observations of contemporary life in Italy including society, human nature, popular opinion and a raft of other issues that have been the subject of millions of books since man learned to write.
many of the issues and observations of this book written nearly 700 years ago are as much in debate and discussion today.
if you are looking for a short little book that goes long into some deep insights about man and mankind, you can do worse than spend a couple hours reading this.

Not what I thought

I enjoyed the flowing translation of Petrarch's book, but I could not help being a bit disappointed; it is my fault, though, and nobody else's. Having read somewhere that Petrarch was blaming himself for loving Latin classics more than Scriptures and the Church Fathers, I thought that his book had a theological and spiritual overtone and was looking forward reading about the inner struggle between the secular and the spiritual dimensions of Petrarch's life (exemplified by "Narcissus and Goldmund" by Hermann Hesse). I was wrong: the book focuses mostly on psychological and ethical issues. Positing Saint Augustine as his interlocutor and super-ego, Petrarch engages in a honest and relentless self-exam. Augustine blames him for the following things:
1) Acedia, though it may be easily concluded that "depression" is probably the correct clinical diagnosis for the "blues" he suffered from.
2) Not thinking deep and long enough about his mortality and the fleeting character of all earthly goods.
3) Loving Laura more and above their Creator.
4) Spinning a web of self-deception.
Petrarch ends his book by declaring himself defeated by Augustine's arguments.

It took me a while to write this review, because I just had to find the right words. But even after a whole week of thinking, I still couldn't come up with the right ones to express just how much I loved this book. I really enjoyed this last book in the Spring Towers collection. I loved the romance of it all but I also loved the suspense and trying to figure out who was after Amy. Would definitely recommend. Can't wait until Morgan comes out with her next book.

Loved the ending and just love Anna Davis

Okay I loved this series. As I have said before Anna Davis is a newbie on the block, but she has HUGE potential. This was her first book which really took off, and some writers that have been doing this for a while haven't made it this far. You will notice that I did say the first one had many typos, spelling, and grammar errors. This feedback was given to her, and you know what?? she took the advice from her fans. Love Me Always was much better. There were still some errors, but compared to the first one it was a huge improvement. This series was just so amazing. I had a connection to all of the characters and I really loved Oliver and Everlyn together. My poor Oliver. He had to suffer through the fact that she didn't remember anything about him when she woke up from her coma. How sad is that....Oh he was incredible through it and he put up with her pushing him away. I felt for Everlyn as well because she was so lost. I'm glad everything worked out at the end and I LOVED the way the story ended. Being the second book in this series I wasn't sure what to expect.
I was pleasantly suprised. It seems Anna Davis has taken the critisim from
her last book into account and improved. The characters remained strong and independant
and the storyline wasn't to over the top. I really enjoyed this book so much that I read it in one sitting.
I know people are turned off by the price, but take a chance and you might be pleasantly suprised.

Amisha Sethi is an executive scholar from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, Chicago, and holds an MBA degree in Marketing from Amity Business School. She was awarded the "Young women rising star" at World Women Leadership Congress 2014 and has won numerous awards and recognition in her corporate life. This is the most comprehensive monograph of Geoffrey Bawa. Mr. Bawa is the figure head of Tropical Modernism and defender of Sri Lanka architecture heritage. The book documents his lifework through beautiful photographs (historic and more recent), and magnificent hand drawings. The book also contained great background information of the architect’s life and his country Sri Lanka, where all of his realized work took place. His work is organized in chronological order and the reader can clearly see an evolution of his work from heavy colonial influence to critical regionalism.
The sense of serenity his environment created quietly overthrown Western superiority in architecture of post-colonial Sri Lanka, and furthermore, it’s taking over the design world through tropical storm.

Great TMJ reference with pictures

If you (or a loved one or a patient) have TMJ (TemporoMandibular Joint) problems (pain, clicking, and/or decreased opening of your mouth), this book will walk you through the steps to arrive at a diagnosis. While not written for the layperson, most people with a strong medical background (and possibly a medical dictionary) will have no problem understanding this book.

Detailed instructions and plenty of pictures set this book apart from other TMJ disorder manuals. Not much on treatment, but this book will help you arrive at a correct diagnosis and a way to objectively track treatment with diagrams.

If you want detailed treatment plans, look elsewhere. But before treatment can begin, the exact nature of the problem should be understood, and this is the book to help you do just that.

Price is high, so be on the look out for a used copy or a good sale.
